

Gain a Queer Perspective on our Collection with resident artist Sadie Lee and her special guest, actress and writer Sophie Ward, as they discuss portraits which have a personal resonance. Sophie Ward is an actress and writer who has worked in film, theatre and television. She started acting at the Anna Scher Theatre in North London as a child and worked on films such as Return to Oz and Young Sherlock Holmes going on to spend many years at the Glasgow Citizens Theatre and working in television on shows such as Dark Adapted Eye, Lewis, Secret State and The Moonstone. She works with Diversity Role Models and was honoured to receive the award for Inspirational Role Model of the Year at the European Diversity Awards in 2014 and Diva International Role Model of the Year 2018. A PhD student at Goldsmiths, University of London, Sophies first book, A Marriage Proposal, was published by the Guardian in 2014. Her first novel, Love and Other Thought Experiments, will be published in February 2020.
