National Portrait Gallery: Queer perspectives with Ursula Martinez

Gain a Queer Perspective on our Collection with resident artist Sadie Lee and her special guest Ursula Martinez as they discuss portraits which have a personal resonance. Ursula Martinez is a London based writer, performer and cult cabaret diva. She fuses theatrical concepts, personal experience and popular forms to create innovative challenging, experimental theatre that is highly entertaining and reflective of our contemporary, post-modern world. She is an original cast member of the contemporary circus/cabaret phenomena La Clique / La Soire. She is also an associate artist with iconoclastic performance provocateurs Duckie, with whom she created the smash-hit Olivier Award winning show Cest Duckie! As a director, Ursula Martinez co-directed award winning Office Party with collaborator, and previous Queer Perspectives guest, Christopher Green, and recently directed Lucy McCormick in her smash-hit, sell-out show Triple Threat. Despite her accolades Ursula Martinez is probably most well-known for pulling hankies out of intimate places
