Lecture: Ma’am Darling: A Glimpse of Princess Margaret @ National Portrait Gallery

Ondaatje Wing Theatre - Tickets: 8 (7 concessions and Gallery Supporters) Book online, or visit the Gallery in person. Princess Margaret, by Dorothy Wilding, November 1947 - NPG - William Hustler and Georgina Hustler / National Portrait Gallery, London Princess Margaret aroused passion and indignation in equal measures. To her friends, she was witty and regal. To her enemies, she was rude and demanding. Writer and journalist Craig Brown creates a hilarious, unique and unconventional portrait of our most talked-about royal. Craig Brown has been writing the Private Eye celebrity diary since 1989. He has also written parodies for many other publications, including The Daily Telegraph, Vanity Fair, The Times and The Guardian. He is the author of several books, most recently The Lost Diaries and One on One. Brown has been our best parodist and satirist for decades now Maam Darling is, as you would expect, very funny; also, full of quirky facts and genial footnotes. Brown has managed to ingest huge numbers of royal books and documents without losing either his judgement or his sanity. He adores the spectacle of human vanity.
