Immerse yourself in history, art and culture at our popular Lunchtime Lectures. Doors open at 12.45. Lectures begin at 13.15 and last approximately one hour. From Tudor pageants to twentieth century bohemia, the British know how to celebrate. Curator Louise Stewart explores some of historys most spectacular events, discussing their social and historical significance. Louise Stewart studied History of Art at the University of Edinburgh before undertaking a Masters in the History of Art and Visual Culture at Oxford University. She completed her PhD at the University of Nottingham and draws from her research for this lecture, looking at historys greatest parties and their hosts. Louise has worked for various museums, galleries and arts organisations including Nottingham Contemporary, The National Centre for Craft and Design and Ordinary Culture. She joined the National Portrait Gallerys Curatorial Department in June 2014.
