Polari honours female voices as part of Women of the World festival. Hear from some of the women depicting queer life in contemporary literature and spoken word. Headliner Mari Hannah won the Polari First Book Prize 2013 for her debut The Murder Wall and a Northern Writers' Award for her second novel Settled Blood. She was shortlisted for the CWA Dagger in the Library 2014, and her Kate Daniels series has been optioned for TV by Stephen Fry's production company, Sprout Pictures. Her latest novel is The Silent Room. The evening also features readings by Janet Ellis, Jacquie Lawrence, VA Fearon with Sophie Sparham completing the line-up in celebration of Women of the World festival. Polari is curated and hosted by Paul Burston, described by Attitude magazine as 'easily one of the most important commentators of his generation'. Expect revelry and sparkle.
