Acting Out! The history of a queer theater festival in the USA
Acting Out! Pittsburgh Pride Theater Festival showcases one-act plays with a lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgendered (LGBT) theme. Despite some headway the LGBT community has made in civil liberties across the USA and globally, theaters still hesitate to produce LGBT-centric plays. Judy Meiksin will talk about the thrills and challenges of producing the festival, and how the experience has evolved over the past 10 years. Audience participation invited as some dialogue from a selection of scripts will be read. The event is free to attend, but registration is required and guests must bring their tickets.
